Generosity and Laughter

Created by Ric 3 years ago

Through our years at College and University my group of friends and I would often congregate at our friend Suzanna’s house - and so I came to know Yuk Lin, known to me as ‘Zan’s Mum’.

Zan’s Mum was always so generous, welcoming us into her home, making us feel like part of the family, and often feeding us.  She would always take an interest in what we were up to - often some kind of baffling, whimsical activity, in which she would always be curious, and this would often end with her walking away shaking her head.  But my main memory is of her laughing - I remember a lot of laughter, and how she would take such joy and amusement from small things.

Though we no longer congregate at Suzanna’s house, Yuk Lin has remained a part of my life.  Through years of correspondence with Zan, her Mum’s influence was never far away and Zan would often recount things that had amused her, her Mum or them both.

So that is how I will remember her - full of generosity and laughter, making a big impression on the world.
